Firstly I'll start by saying that this is the longest chapter for this story, mostly because over the past week I added an extra eight pages to it. Barring any changes to the future chapters (mostly thanks to a potential Tobi reveal), it will likely remain the longest.
Why? Well, with a lot of people asking for Mei, I decided to throw them a little bit of a bone. I hope you enjoyed it because this is pretty much the last you're going to get of her, from now on it's essentially the Naruto and Mikoto show, guest starring Minato and Kushina.
Based on some things I've read in reviews, I'd like to take a moment to state this: Yes, I understand a crap-ton of stuff can be done with Naruto being in the past. People learning new things and generally mucking up the time line even more. But that was never really the plan for what I had in mind to write. Most of the focus was supposed to be on Naruto in the beginning, Naruto and Mikoto in the middle, and Naruto, Mikoto, and a handful of other people in the end. There simply isn't enough time for me to go into incredible amounts of detail.
Not to mention how much more writing that would take.
Some might also think that Mikoto came across as a little 'meh' when he began to tell her his secrets. If someone unloaded secrets like that on you, I'm sure that you'd take a little while to process things too. Mikoto likes Naruto and wants to believe that he's telling her the truth, so she just slowly begins to accept it, even if it is tough to swallow.
- Naruto's chakra overload - It wasn't meant to really convey anything serious, other than Naruto has strong, warm, smothering chakra like all Uzumaki do. It's just in his nature, and it wasn't harmful, but it certainly gave a unique indication to the seal.
- Italics issues - Like most authors that don't spam caps, I use italics to symbolize words that are very heavily emphasized in speech. Unfortunately due to formatting, it won't let me save the space after the italicized word for some reason. It's very frustrating.
- Lemon? - No. At least, I don't have one written. I may try one later. Don't hold your breath.
- Kids - Not spoiling anything. C'mon, waiting a couple more weeks can't be that difficult, can it?
- (unrelated about Tobi) - Technically after, if only because of the additional experience gained. But there is a lot of funny stuff about Tobi that I don't get in general anyway. Too many questions.
- Mikoto and Kushina convos - I already had so much typed, sorry... and they have more chats later, so no worries. I was trying to avoid getting into too much about Fugaku.
- Weekly schedule - No sooner, and I'm sticking to it! Sorry to some and you're welcome to others. XD
- The ending - Not spoiling! Needless to say, I hope everyone will be satisfied with the endpoint.
- Rasengan? - Yes, Naruto will be learning 'it' soon, though going back over the chapters, I currently have him learning it off-panel. Maybe it's time to write up a quick scene. We'll see if I can make it fit.
- Chakra being poisonous - Yes, it is, if used in that manner. I'm taking a bit of artistic license and adding to it. Most chakra in large doses is 'bad', but it still leaves redisual traces. Healing chakra is 'good', and is molded in such a way that it assists and blends with your own chakra. It will also leave residual traces of the person it came from. All Naruto did was, through contact (skin), let his chakra brush against hers for a moment and leave residual traces. It only needed to be on her lips, but it ended up almost everywhere he touched her, even through clothes. Because Uzumaki chakra is just that awesome.
- Root - I can't find it anywhere that it was founded by the Nidaime Hokage. Anyone know the chapter where it was stated? The wiki says it's Danzo.
- Nagato - Will make an appearance eventually, aye.
Finally, to the Guest poster with the huge post about Fugaku and to a lesser extent Hiashi... um, wow? Heh, for the most part I agree with your points. I purposefully avoided getting to in-depth regarding Fugaku mostly because that would take up way more fic space than I had intended. In order to pair Naruto up with Mikoto, and do it realistically without Fugaku being a bastard who was frothing at the mouth and acting like an obsessed idiot... he simply needed to have minimal impact. Certainly there would be some kind of impact, he was in a contract after all, but it is Naruto and Mikot that is supposed to be the focus of the story, not how it is affecting Fugaku too.
We learn of Fugaku through Mikoto, and are supposed to want to take her side in this, as we're only getting her perspective. Naruto doesn't have any interactions with Fugaku both because of requests not to and out of respect. He'll still pop up now and again, but don't expect them to be during any critical plot moments.
That said... ugh, I am sort of but not really looking forward to the Tobi reveal. If it messes up too much of my plot I'm gonna be pissed, because then people are gonna be all 'why did you do this, it's obviously not Tobi!'
The curse of having a fic pre-written and not posting it all at once, I guess. Meh.
I'm curious as to the whole spiel about "Danna-sama", the origins, and what Mikoto would have said to finish it.
ReplyDeleteAs for the origins, I can't imagine Madara wanting to have a woman in charge of things (no offense to any females), nor could I really imagine him taking a wife. Being the most powerful person in the clan, either he or the handful of people that led the clan before him would have put it into place so that even if there is only a daughter for an heir (like Mikoto) then you could essentially marry her off and pick who you want to be the leader. This way the position doesn't need to be fought over anymore, like when Madara fought to win.
DeleteAs for the speech itself, I had something that was about three sentences long. But it sounded corny as hell to me and I think Naruto is spontaneous enough to stop someone going on a spiel like that. I didn't save what I had written, but the long and short of it was that she was placing herself and that of the clan at his command to do as he sees fit, so long as he's leading the clan to further glory. Something like that.
it's a good chapter. basically naruto's timeline either doesn't exist anymore or his actions resulted in a new dimension. there's actually a manga that would best explain this. I'll try to find it in my computer.
ReplyDeleteanyway... so there's no more challenge like that in their relationship?? oh well, what I'm expecting wouldn't happen unless naruto and mei are really close. (what I'm expecting really was mei still in love with naruto even when she already have a husband, but yeah they're not that close)
this quote was what i was talking a bout earlier
ReplyDelete"...with every action you take, you restructure the flow of time and repair it, changing future events. However, if your aim is to prevent the destruction of the world altogether, your ultimate goal no longer falls within the realm of repairing the future, it involves destroying and severing the flow of time, to subsequently recreate it. Most likely an entirely new timeline will be created..."
In naruto's case even if he did stop tobi-or-whoever-he-is, there is a possibility that the people from the future where he came from is still under the genjutsu or dead.
p.s. please PLEASE!! update your fairy tailxnaruto fanfic
p.s.s. Im the guy who reviewed at 11:38 pm
Yes, no more real challenges to their develop(ed/ing) relationship, other than now what married couples usually go through.
DeleteAnother yes, everyone where Naruto came from no longer exists. The moment he arrived in the past and was discovered, the whole timeline was changed. Butterfly Effect/Chaos Theory.
I'm trying to work on my most active stuff, for srs. I'll be updating how far I am with things at least once a week, via the bars on the right. ->
