Rule number one of writing fanfiction is: Write something you enjoy.
Rule number two of writing fanfiction is: You can't please everybody, no matter how hard you try.
The only reason he 'looked' at Mei was because he knew her from his future, briefly. Besides that, to the best of his knowledge, Mikoto was already spoken for and he had no idea what was being planned by her and her father.
Let me start off this post with a brief review of the story summary.
"The Fourth Great Shinobi War is all but lost. A tip from the Tsuchikage causes a team to travel to Uzushiogakure to find out more. Not knowing what to expect, they come across a seal, but it's one that requires a bijuu to power it. Naruto gets an opportunity to go back and re-write the past in hopes of giving everyone a different future.

Nowhere any place in that summary does it mention Mikoto. Naruto went back in the past for Konoha. Not for Mikoto or anyone else. He certainly sees everyone as a part of Konoha, but he is doing what he is doing for the village as a whole.
The Mikoto thing kinda came out of left field for him. I'm trying to put a lot of stuff into a little space because if I didn't I'd have another epic length fic on my hands and it would never get done. So this story will seem compressed because it is. Now I know I'm still going to get reviews that complain about it because I know not everyone reads this blog, but I figure it will explain it to at least some of you.
Hopefully.
Naruto was fine with getting together with Mikoto for multiple reasons.
- She's hot.
- He can save the Uchiha clan.
- Living Uchiha means stronger Konoha.
- She's hot.
- ...
- Profit.
That's not to say he didn't have his own reservations about how the entire thing felt rushed... because it was. But there's a time for taking things slow, and when a war is starting? Not a good idea. The life of a ninja is short enough as it is, there really isn't the time for a traditional courtship. He knew her for 7 months, decently as a friend for 4, and very well for about 2. Quick, yes, but some people IRL get married faster than that. Is it always successful? No. But it does still happen.
Throw me a bone here. Please.

Anyway, for the reviews... a lot of them say the same thing in a different way so I'll just generalize.
Timeline - This is sort of the interlude into Act 3. It will go through the war, to when the 'Kyuubi attack' happened, and the epilogue will finish with a preview of the next generation. There will be two quick time skips to get into the war before the ending.
Uzumaki to Uchiha - Naruto wasn't exactly pleased about trading his last name, but hey, that's life. I personally don't see why it matters so much. Even if his name is different on a piece of paper, he's still an Uzumaki by blood. To me blood means more than ink. He's not an immature teenager anymore. Teen Naruto probably would have thrown a tantrum, yes. War veteran 22 year-old Naruto understands the way the world works.
People being reborn - No one who was alive in Naruto's time will be reborn exactly the same way, if they are reborn at all.
Retaking Uzumaki name - If Kushina dies without children then Naruto will be responsible for giving one of his children the Uzumaki name if he so chooses to. If not, the Uzumaki name dies out. Except maybe Karin or Nagato. /nospoil
