So yes, this chapter is late, even though it is still posted on a Tuesday (for me). I've been busy as hell at work lately. For those of you who perhaps haven't read some of my past author notes, I work in Pharmacy at the retail level. In a month we've jumped from doing 700-ish prescriptions a week to over 900. Minus that extra 0, thank whatever diety(ies) you believe in.
If I had anyone I could point to and say 'just ask them, they know what it's like!' I would. Needless to say a 200 Rx jump is perhaps not 'massive', but is definitely large. As a full time employee I went from having 2-3 hours of my day relatively free and clear of having to do any legit 'work', to having not enough time while I'm there to get everything done. To make matters more difficult, there are only 4 employees... 2 pharmacists and 2 technicians. Tuesdays and Sundays are the worst for me, because with only 2 techs there are 4 days of the week where I don't get to have that other tech work with me to share the load.
If anyone out there was ever thinking of becoming a Pharmacy Technician... don't. Skip it and go straight to Pharmacist if you must. Being a tech is totally not worth the pay, especially when you consider the training you need and the licensing you have to have.
Anyway, onto the thing that most people were probably checking this blog for... the review stuff.
- Kids: Yes, no kids yet, though I think that was explained why in this chapter.
- Anko: Response was overwhelming, seems to be all-win. Yay!
- Mei and the marriage: Perhaps I should have been a little more clear with it, but yes... essentially Mikoto did push the marriage bit forward because of what Kushina immediately left to tell her about. Mikoto wasn't going to take any chances.
- Unsecured locations: I was thinking about adding another paragraph about how Naruto had clones sweeping the area, but after proofing the chapter I thought it was extra and not really needed. Guess I was wrong. My bad? But that is, in essence, what happened. He did the same with Kushina in this chapter.
- Tobi: Oh, Tobi, Tobi, Tobi... I thought you were a good boy? I'm probably going to make some edits, though thankfully when I wrote this I can honestly say I did NOT have Obito as Tobi, so a big sigh of relief on that front. However some things Tobi does (or did) will have to be explained differently or just plain changed. I'm trying to avoid editing too much... but some things... yeah. Sharinghax for the win, I guess?
Most of the reviews this time tended to be about the same things, so I guess that means this week I get away with some quick responses.
Also, yay for the blog. Having over 200 views today alone means that perhaps people actually checked here to see if I posted about why the chapter wasn't up yet (which I did), instead of flooding my PM inbox or leaving reviews.
All that said, I'm thinking about writing a companion piece when this fic is done to flesh out more of the character interactions. That seems to be one of the things people like most about the fics I write, anyway. My original intent was for this to be a 'quickie fic' that wouldn't really go far beyond 100k words, but sometimes I think I let people's imaginations stretch a bit too far.
P.S. Woohoo! Go RGIII!
So will mei be a problem in naruto and mikoto relationship later in the story Or has she just moved on?
ReplyDeleteShe hasn't completely disappeared, but she won't actively chase after a married man.
DeleteSo will there be any interaction s between anko and orochimaru? And woopie to the companion piece :-D
ReplyDeleteI hadn't planned on it. Orochimaru's original interest in Anko was that she was an orphan who had no real connections to anyone. He could train her while also potentially use her for an experiment or three that no one would question... hence her cursed seal prototype.
DeleteSince she's with Naruto, Orochimaru has no interest in her at all now.
