Standing on your feet for 11 hours in a day for your job is a PAIN. Literally and figuratively.
Needless to say with the approaching holiday season, I'm sure many can appreciate retail hell, from both sides of the counter. I have had next to zero free time. The overtime pay is always nice, at least.
Anyway, I do have tomorrow and between tonight and then I intend to finish smashing out the rewrite of the last chapter of Rewritten, and hopefully get it beta'd too. I may post it before it's beta'd just to get it out, but I can't say for sure.
Anyway, at least folks can come here to see what's up and know that I'm not dead. As a sort of apology, I guess I can leave you with this line from the chapter.
"I'm sorry Kushina, there's nothing I can do." Kurama's deep voice rumbled in her mind. "Believe me, I wish I could. More than anything else."
Kushina wanted to wail, to scream and yell, to let the world know about her loss. But for the moment, all she could feel was numb. Even though he was dead and still had the sword stuck through the middle of his torso, she cradled his head in his lap as if it were precious and delicate.
A loud commotion brought her attention back to the fight between her best friend and her brother's killer, but a voice she had never heard before spoke up behind her before she could figure out what was going on.
"What happened here?"
Oh man. I was actually thinking it wasn't Naruto or it was simply a illusion of him being cut down instead of the real thing. And the last sentence or two is something!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that it'll be out today or tomorrow. Retail is a pain with incoming holiday, I'm not looking forward with Black Friday around the corner...Ugh.
Working in retail as well, yeah, this upcoming season sucks. Nice tease at the end there, can't wait till its posted

DeleteEvery time he's taken a wound before has never been through his heart, or his head. Those two are kind of, y'know, vital for anything else to happen. Plus he doesn't have Kurama in him as a backup.
...naruto has, IN STORY, gotten his heart completely shredded by Kabuto. A small sword and a blender are two completely different things. Add in that the sword still being there prevent him from bleeding out as fast AND the fact that he has two ways to regenerate- his natural Uzumaki healing, and then the healing he gets when pulling Kurama's power (He still has some of Kurama's power), and a sword isn't even an issue.

DeleteI've been writing Naruto in fanfiction for nearly 5 years now. I'd like to say I'm fairly well-versed in his history because of that. There was no 'shredding', Kabuto cut off chakra flow to Naruto's heart. His heart weakened, and he essentially went into cardiac arrest. Even Kyuubi was helpless. It took a frantic Tsunade to keep him alive.
Naruto has a sword through his heart, and no Kyuubi in him... not that it did any good last time. I haven't explicitly stated he's dead, it's just how everyone is interpreting him. I 'drama whored' a bit because it evokes a reaction in the reader. If you've read along so far then trust me a bit further, there is substance to my flash.
Have to agree with other anonymous. Yes, I'm a different one, but it's just drama whoring to pretend that does Naruto in.
ReplyDeleteWe've seen him get impaled in the lung with Chidori. If he can heal that in seconds, Kabuto shredding his heart, and Lord knows what else during the 4th War, then a stab through the heart just isn't going to cut it with Kurama RIGHT THERE. Hell his arm recovered from the Backlash of the Rasenshuriken, and we know that cuts on a Cellular level.
He was impaled in the lung because he could survive that. It was aimed for his heart, and Naruto shifted at the last second so it wouldn't hit his heart. Sasuke has a laugh about it.

I will reiterate. Naruto has never taken a direct wound to his heart or head. I admit that I didn't mention Kabuto's attack because Tsunade was there and healed him up. It was not a 'shredding', just cutting off his chakra circulation - equivalent to a heart attack. Because of that I effectively believe that a wound taken to one of those two areas would effectively kill him.
That's not to say it would be an immediate death, but it would certainly put him into shock and make him unresponsive.
I doubt Naruto will die. I really doubt it. I don't think Paradox is the type to write that sort of fanfic, anyway or the ending of one. Have a bit faith.

DeleteI've worked 62 hours this past week, and I'm on day 11 of 12 straight working. I've been writing when I can, and I'm really afraid to promise anything. But I've only got about a scene left to fix up so if I post anything it will be late tomorrow. I may just hold off and post on Thanksgiving. We'll see.
But again, I'm afraid to promise it at this point.
As long as it's before Black Friday, I don't care. Hell, if it's after Black Friday, I will appreciate it more after working 20 hours.

I'm actually one of the lucky ones where seniority counts, and don't have to work. I get Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to do a lot of writing, since so far I actually don't have anything else to do.

Ugh >.< I was afraid something like this would happen. Kind of sucks though, but I was actually thinking about this earlier. Have older Naruto die off while his mother Kushina gives birth or finds out she's pregnant with him. Kind off like a rebirth of some sorts. Anyways, my lack of sleep is getting to me. Hope to see a new chapter soon.
